MAGIC MOMENTS

We've all had them, haven't we? And that's what this collection will be about. Those special moments where we KNOW that we have changed someone's life. Perhaps not in a lasting way, but in a way that will be memorable. And that memory at the very least will last forever.

Interestingly, many of our own first memories (of magic)are of an uncle or someone else, doing something 'magical' to us. Can you recall one of those moments when a coin was plucked from your ear. How did that feel? I bet you can 'be there' now and still relive that moment.

Many more magic moments like this happen every day somewhere in the world. But there are even greater rewards to be had for entertainers, wonder workers, magicians. Because of the nature of their business, they make continual contact with audiences and get feedback about their work. I know for a fact, as it has happened to me, that sometimes their presentations can have an extraordinary effect.

Somehow,
the performance of magic
transcends and delivers
more meaning and relevance
than perhaps we intend.

It is these moments that this collection is about. Those occasions when someone has approached a perfromer during an event, after the performance, or perhaps some time later, and made it known just how impacting the presentation had been.

I know of stories affecting children, adults with disabilities, people who were hiding in their shell and many many other circumstances where the magic was apparently responsible for a change. This may be something stunning or somewhat more subtle but never-the-less profound. It is stories of this kind I will collect and post here for your further reading.

If YOU know of any such experiences, please get in touch or pass my contact details on to those involved.

Not only but also.......!

One weekend a while ago I was working on a riverboat with a good friend and excellent entertainer, Sheba Cassini. We've known each other for about 15 years but especially since I moved away from London, we only now cross paths occasionally.

I knew we'd meet because I had recommended her to my client and we were both booked as key entertainers for this special family occasion.

Anyway, to the point. Out of the blue Sheba tells me that she is thinking of writing a book. Being a superb illustrator and caricature artiste, she will also illustrate the book. It will probably be a collaboration with Simon, her partner in crime and also brilliant Caricature artist (who I have also know for over 15 years). Naturally I was interested in the subject of the book, and Sheba tells me that it will be a collection of stories gathered from fellow artistes about great things that have happened on or after events where they have been working!

Wow..... synchronicity? Don't know. This project has been on the cards for over 2 years now but held up due to a variety of happenings (including moving house and office and, more recently, losing all my files and well, everything, when I had a hard drive crash. In fact, my backup drive also went at the same time!

This is the first time I've been able to log in here since January when that happened. My collection of stories has been lost along with my database and I have just managed to get back to start the long rebuild process. This post is the first with regard to 'Real Magic Moments', spurred on by the chance conversation with Sheba.

So .... more posts very soon......

Real Magic? Are you sure?

So what's all this about?

This Blog will be used as a meeting place for discussion of Magic Moments that happen in the lives of entertainers. Not the fake stuff they perform, but the Real Magic Moments that come as a result of what they do.

Recently I have recently been thinking....about the experiences of others, where magic has changed their lives. Where something perhaps unexpected happened to them too and creates a massive change. This in turn has lead to this site.....one I am devoting to the collection of personal stories of magic. Where performing magicians have somehow made a difference. Where they have perhaps added to an occasion, caused some changes in the energy or pace or ambiance of an event. Perhaps even changed someone's life.

Crazy?

No.....it happens. Performers can touch people. We do it all the time. That's normal. An everyday occurance. But then there are those extra special moments. It's these I want to post here.

Oh....and perhaps the magician's life has been changed too. Somehow enhanced by something that happened when they were performing that means they will never be the same again.

So.....sit tight and let's see what I can collect for you. I'll be back soon with some memorable magic moments. Just like the ones I am now having, now that I have applied some change magic to myself (for a change).

Hey..... there's a new title for a programme:
'Magic - for a change'

I'll make another entry soon to explain ... in the meantime, I'm off and will be keeping my senses open so I don't miss any other potential Magic Moments about to happen.
